Simple step-by-step measuring instructions.

Measuring your windows for blinds is simple, just follow our step-by step instructions below. Fitting is just as easy

Measuring tips

It is best to use a metal tape measure and have some paper handy to write down your measurements straight away.

Look out for window handles and the positioning of tiles at the top and bottom of your window. You should also think about how your window opens. Take measurements from an area that is in front of your window handles so the blind will move up and down when you fit it here.

Don’t forget we are just on the end of the phone, any questions please call 01362857300 or e-mail sales@blinds4udirect.co.uk

All orders should be entered with measurements in mm’s If you decide to measure in inches you can still send us your order and we will convert it for you

Before you do any measuring you’ll need to decide if you want your blind to sit inside the window recess or hang outside .

For a neat fit that blocks out the light choose to fit your blinds inside the recess. For windows that aren’t straight or have lots of obstructions choose to fit your blinds outside the recess.

Blinds inside the recess – Recess measurement

If you choose to fit inside the recess, choosing the recess option when ordering your blinds, the blind will be made to fit perfectly inside your window. Just follow the simple steps below:

Measure the width of the recess from wall to wall in three places as shown. Write down the shortest measurement – this is the one we’ll use.

Measure the drop by taking the measurement from the top of the recess to the windowsill in three places as shown. Write down the shortest measurement.

Choose your fabric and place your order!

All recess blinds are reduced by our factory to take into account the size of the headrail and components to ensure a perfect fit. Please do not make any adjustments to your measurements we do this for you. Below is a guide of the reductions we will make when we receive your order.

Vertical blinds = approximately 1cm width, and 5cm off louvres. (4cm for Headrail height and 1cm for the gap between louvre and windowsill/floor.)

Venetian blinds = approximately 1cm in width

Wood Venetian blinds = approximately 1cm in width

Roller blinds = approximately 1cm in width and 3.3cm from the actual fabric

Roman blinds = approximately 1cm in width

Woodweave blinds = approximately 2cm in width

Pleated blinds = approximately 1cm in width

Blinds outside the recess – Exact measurements

If you choose to fit outside the recess, choosing the exact option when ordering your blind, the blind will be made to your exact measurements. Just follow the simple steps below:

Measure the width of where you’d like your blind to be.

Measure the length from the top of where you want your blind to be to the bottom. This is the drop measurement.

Choose your fabric and place your order!

Important Note for Roller Blinds – When ordering an EXACT roller blind the actual fabric will be made approximately 2.8cm less in width due to the headrail. If you would like your EXACT width measurement to be your actual fabric width, you will need to add 2.8cm to the measurement

Important Note for Vertical Blinds – When ordering EXACT vertical blinds the width you order will be EXACT but the drop will be approximately 1cm less as we take 5cm off our louvres (4cm for Headrail height and 1cm for the gap between louvre and windowsill/floor.)

Perfect Fit is the most attractive and innovative window blind available in the market today. The system is unique because the window blind fits neatly into a stylish frame, which moves together with the windows and doors when they are opened and closed

Ideal for either domestic or commercial installations, Perfect Fit can be installed in less than one minute as there is no need to drill any holes in the window, door frame or surrounding plasterwork. The result is a stylish, contemporary looking window blind that completely integrates with the surrounding UPVC frame. To make a good thing even better, Perfect Fit looks stunning when fitted into conservatories.

Available as roller, venetian, pleated, blackout or solar protection blinds and costing little more than many conventional window blinds, Perfect Fit can also be easily removed and reinstalled for cleaning.

As Perfect Fit blinds attach to individual frames, they move as the window or door moves making the product ideal for use with tilt and turn windows, glazed doors and skylights.

Perfect Fit frames are available in white, brown or silver.

No drilling or screwing
Unique fitting system allows blinds to be installed by anyone perfectly in double glazed sealed unit applications.

Brackets slide into place – frame locks onto the brackets!

Perfect Fit is changing the way blinds are fitted forever. Window blinds look better, perform better and are more desirable when used in conjunction with Perfect Fit.

Damage free installation
Because there is no drilling or screwing required there’s no damage to your window or door frames which can invalidate any warranty they may carry.

Suitable for windows, doors or skylights
The possibilities are endless with Perfect Fit. Because your blind becomes part of your window or door you can still opperate them as normal.

Increased privacy and light control
By eliminating gaps at the side of your blinds Perfect Fit not only increases privacy but cuts down considerably on light ‘bleed’ around the edge of your blinds. Perfect Fit is fantastic when used in conjunction with our huge range of blackout fabrics.

Improved insulation
Our great range of solar protective coating (SPC) energy saving thermal blackout blinds can already help reduce your carbon footprint but when used with Perfect Fit frames you could reduce your heating bills by upto 20%

No loose cords, no loops, no danger.
Although isolated there have been accidents involving infants with unrestrained cords and loop chains on blinds

We have a great range of blinds on our website and we believe that it is user friendly. Below is our guide to help you get around the website.

1. On the homepage there is a grey strip across the middle choose the blinds that you are interested in. For example wooden venetian blinds.
2. once clicking on this you will be given a drop down menu of the different ranges that are on offer.
3. Once you have chosen the range (eg sunwoods) the colours on offer will come up.
4. Choose the colour you are interested in e.g polar.
5. This will take you too a new page where you can type in the sizes you require, these have to be in mm and make sure you type the width and drop the correct way around. You then need to choose your slat width, if this is a recess or exact size, if you require tapes or chords, stained ends or not and the tassels on the end of the chords.
5. Calculate quote this will then bring up the price of the blind that you require so that you can add it to your basket.
If you are not 100% sure on the colour request upto 6 free samples, these will be sent out the same day first class.
If you need any more assistance on the website please e-mail sales@blinds4udirect.co.uk
We try to reply to emails same day so that this will not delay your order.

To make a roller blind the first thing you will need is a roller bench and making sure you have the correct tools

tools you will need are :

1x 7mm locking tape ,1x silicone spray ,1x 7mm forming tool ,1x creasing tool , 4x small magnets ,1x sys32 tubing ,1x bottom bar ,2x bottom bar end caps , 1xsys32 controls ,1x number 10 metal or plastic chain ,1x tape masseur

lets get started we will start in inches but then convert to millimeters

size of blind width 50inch drop 60inch

first get your measurement and times it by 25.4 to convert to millimeters eg: 50 x 25.4 =1270mm this will be the cut of the fabric then minus 35mm and that will be the cut of your tubing and bottom bar 1235mm once you have cut your tubing and bottom bar place it in the roller bench in the correct place .

Now for your fabric roll it out on to the bench what ever is longer when rolled out use as the drop now to cut a straight edge but the fabric up to the edge of the bench making sure you have enough fabric left for your width and drop with the drop add on and extra 10 to 15 inches as some of this will be around the roller tube and bottom bar now clamp down the fabric and cut using the cutter on the roller blind bench once you have done this spin your fabric 180 and use the straight edge to line up to your measurement 1270mm make sure it is straight before you clamp down the fabric hold the fabric in place using the magnets once the roller blind fabric is straight clamp and cut.

Now spin your fabric 90 so the width is facing you first we are going to attach the tubing move the fabric so its just over the tubing once again making sure the fabric is always straight clamp down and spray a little of the silicone over the top of the fabric and tube use your creasing tool first pulling the fabric a little to make sure its in nice and tight then follow with the forming tool then attach some of the locking tape to the forming tool and slide through now cut away the extra bit of fabric that is left and the extra bits of locking tape un clamp and spin 180 this time pulling the fabric over the bottom bar an extra 5 inches clamp down and then slide in the tools just like you did with the tubing but this time dont cut the extra fabric off unclamp and lift out the bottom bar and spin the bottom bar stick back in clamp and stick the extra fabric in the bottom bar the same way then cut the extra fabric off and locking tape stick the bottom bar end caps on roll up the roller blind cut off the correct amount of chain that you need for the drop stick the chain in the control and then slide into the tubing and then the other end of the control in the other end

and there we have it one perfect roller blind
