Child Safety

This is the motto of the Window Covering Safety Council (WCSC), an organization dedicated to educating consumers about window cord safety.  Unnecessary injuries can be avoided with child safe window treatments and preventative safety measures. 

We are proud to offer a wide variety of window treatment options that improve child safety.  Pets are also protected by choosing a safety-oriented window covering. There have been a number of accidents and fatalities involving young children and window blind cords.

We all want to know our children are safe, whether they are playing in their own bedroom at home, or at a friends house, or anywhere else there could be free hanging window blind cords that could present a danger of strangulation to young children and toddlers.

Child Safe Blinds was established in order to provide a place where both parents and organisations such as nursery schools can purchase simple to install child safety products for window blind cords.

    "For a few pounds the window blind safety devices can give you reassurance when infants or toddlers are playing in a room of the house where window blinds are fitted".

We don't believe that children should be wrapped in cotton wool but realize that young children have no concept of the danger of strangulation with window blind cords.

As parents and carers it is up to us to provide a safe environment for children, by eliminating free hanging window blind cords, could give us all extra peace of mind where children could have previously been in danger of strangulation due to window blind cords not being secured.

The products we provide are available in blind safety packs with screws and rawl plugs supplied, in order to encourage fitting to be carried out as soon as you take delivery.

Other precautions to take

    * Keep furniture a safe distance from windows to prevent children from climbing up to window area
    * Chains on the bottom of vertical blinds can also pose a danger to children and pets
    * Sewn in bottom weights will prevent the need for bottom chains
    * Don't allow any cords to hang near a child's cot or bed
